April 1/17
The recent training of John Maxwell has truly changed my life for the better. One of his teaching techniques is the use of his powerful quotes to promote thinking and self reflection. One of these quotes has remained on my mind. This is "When is the last time you have done something for the first time."
So that relates to me as I recently started up a learning group using the tools I have learned from John. As I was completing this training I made a goal for myself to add value to each person I interact with. So with that in mind and with the use of this new materials I started something new.
As with anything new my confidence on this was low however my thoughts kept coming back to my goal of providing value. So the first session started and was completed. This session was a total of five weeks long with meeting once a week for one hour. Once the first meeting was complete I received a phone call from one of the participates. They communicated that prior to the start of this training was feeling the need for leadership training. As we talked on the phone both of us were moved to tears as the information shared in this session provided value to them. A significant statement was made by this person and that was they said I want to be the change in myself that I would like to see in others. At that moment I realized that yes I can do this and my goal of providing value to others was met to this person.
This conversation provided me the fuel to continue on forward, which I needed at the time to grow my confidence. I reflected on the high sense of gratefulness of the opportunity of what was provided to me with these teachings and to feel the multiplier effect first hand. Prior to this session of learning I had the belief I was on the right track in regards to leadership. What I took away from this session was the shift from belief to knowing.
All of us have a built in leadership ability and all you need is that spark to ignite your ability to lead. Also your ability to lead is not based on positional power or titles. So do not wait for the big promotion before you start to lead. I have met several people that feel that they are not able to lead and are waiting for the big promotion at their work place. I cannot express strong enough do not wait, if you feel the passion and want to lead then do it.
Start doing it right now. Start to practice providing value to others and lead when there are natural opportunities. These opportunities will come to you and when you recognize them follow your intuition to lead. You will not always get it perfect the first time and that is okay. Learn from your experience and move on. The worst possible thing for you to do is not to listen to that voice that is inside of you.
An example of being able to lead others is one of the people I met on my training asked me to do a check in with him a week later. I asked him three questions and he created three goals. He stated he needed to complete them as that would help him grow his business. So we both wrote down our next steps and goals. After the week passed we completed our check in and all three goals were completed by him.
This provided me the fuel that I was indeed providing value and also it reminded me the importance of aligning up to my goal. Nature has designed us to always be moving forward and in a state of constant transition. These are tools that will help us align up to the natural flow of our environment.

The 77th Chapter - Leading Others
March 26/17
I want to share about the process of going through a feeling of belief into the feeling of knowing. I have been fortunate over the last five years to lead an incredible group of people. As my leaderships skills grew over the last five years most of the choices made were ones that added value to people.
During this time I had the belief that these choices were the correct ones to add to the value of the team. However my confidence levels were not always high during that time and there were moments of doubt. As I have been given the opportunity to lead others for several years now I feel the last five years I have grown the most. It is during these last five years the speed of this growth has also increased.
The goal of providing value to people has been the biggest change over the last five years. As I started out as a young leader with a focus of providing results. However what life has taught me over last while is to switch my focus on providing value to people I lead. As I have done this one of the outcomes has been the quality of results have increased with my team. Not only the quality of results improved it continues to increase in the speed of the improvements as well.
All of this is getting done by the team and as individuals they operate as one unit. I am truly blessed to be a part of this team. I have seen the growth of this team explode and even as of late there is news that will change us forever. The team has not slowed down and keeps going forward while others around struggle.
The secret is once people have learned the basic skill of their job then as a leader you need to focus on building them. A daily focus of one positive conversation at a time with a goal to provide value to your people.
So the transition from a belief to knowing happened to me this last week. I was given the gift of completing the John Maxwell Certified Training Program. It was during this time in Orlando my belief shifting into knowing. It was at that moment the switch was engaged for me and I know I am able to move forward with skills to create my future. It is an unstoppable change and that force is in me now. Like the strong healthy oak tree in a storm as wind and darkness start to pull on its strength. It is able to withstand the force of the storm. Not only can it stand the force of the storm it also provides shelter from this storm to other living beings. This is s sign of strong leadership and when you arrive at this level it is your duty to serve others.
Since I have returned from this conference I have been exposed to a few folks that say or don't understand the value of this type of leadership. However like the oak tree in a storm this energy does not impact me nor does it slow me down. The goal has been written for the next chapter in my life and that goal of providing value to others will be relentless.
It has taken me 42 years of life experience to arrive at this point and I am so excited to see the new learning will continue in me. As you are reading this and can relate to these words, your on your track. I can assure you what your seeking and your passion will be unlocked.
A key learning moment for you to achieve this is by your choice of your circle of friends that you surround yourself with. Follow your intuition. If the people you spend a lot of time with are not adding value to your life you will need to start seeking out those who do add value. As this is a key ingredient to building your foundation of unlocking the greatness that is in you.
With kindness it is important to let people know your choices as that conversation may plant a seed in that persons growth. It might take years for that seed to grow in that person however it will. This act along will be the start of creating value with people. This multiplying effect will change lives.
So right now in this moment, get up, get a piece of paper and start writing down your goals. The most import part comes next and that is to start to achieve your newly created goals.

The 76th Chapter - Start of a New Journey
March 25/17
I am about to start something new with a goal of providing value to others and to help them learn. I am nervous and excited all at the same time. The feeling of starting something new is a measure of a growth phase starting.
With this journey there is a feeling of the unknown yet the known at the same time. When you experience this feeling this is a sign that you are on your right track. I want to share that feeling and communicate that into a teaching.
As you go through your life and you know you need to make changes, yet your not sure what those changes are. Start to explore, once your start to explore allow your intuition to lead you to your energy vibrations. These vibrations are your internal road map to unlocking your success. All you need to know is inside of you and by following these vibrations it will unlock your passion.
At first the clues will come to you slowly yet this is the critical time to start reprogramming your mind to a new mind set. As you start practicing this new quest by following your vibrations you will gather strength and you will start creating you own power. Remember it will take a while but this is normal and in the flow of nature.
Picture a magnificent bald headed eagle that flies completely effortlessly through the sky on a summer day. A beautiful creature that is in perfect vibration of the energy around them. Yet as a young bird there was a time when it could not fly and was dependent on a nest and parents. The time has come for this young bird to fly and leave the nest. At that time this bird was just a shadow of what it is now. However with new not fully developed feathers it leaves the nest for the first time and followed their path of vibrations. As it leaps into the air for the the first time and never has flown before the bird completes a first step. This first step is known to the bird and knows the time is right to fly.
This same pattern applies to you in finding your passion that is inside of you right now and you know it is there. No one has sent that bird to flight school. It was coached by it's parents and allowing their inner voice to guide them to their success. Which has lead them to this moment in time on a beautiful summer day. They are freely giving to you the enjoyment of watching a eagle sore.
True grow is allowing your passion to overflow into others yet without expectations. This is the point when you are able to start unlocking your locked doors of your internal greatness.
So do not wait to start your new journey until your ready. In truth you will never have the feeling of truly ready to start a new journey. The only way to be ready is in the act to jump out of your nest and fly.

The 75th Chapter - Providing Value to Others
March 23/17
Another mini quest has been completed and this event was attending John Maxwell Training in Florida. This learning was intense and very fulfilling. I will never forget the feeling of being in a room with over 2800 like minded people and how the energy in the room was alive. My renewed goal of daily providing value to each person I communicate with is now amplified. So if you happen to bump into me, you will be either attracted to seeing value in yourself or not.
I would like to share a story about a thought pattern and how true it is when we think we cannot do something. That mind set stops our growth and with the lack of growth the slow slide of death begins.. This growth mindset is built in us from the moment we are born and is one of the laws of nature. I have learned that when I am being stubborn to have an open mind and to be grateful for others that still keep pouring knowledge into me.
My story is on one of the recent training sessions on the power of coaching others. At the beginning of the session all the audience were asked to stand up if they did not see the value in coaching or perhaps not interested in it. I quickly stood up proudly and with confidence with the thought that I could never coach something that I was not an expert in. I believed I had to be an expert in a subject in order to coach people to increase their value on what they are wanting to become better at.
As I confidently sat down and whipped out my pen to write notes I waited to see what I could learn. That is when I noticed a set of juggling balls at the table and wondered what those could be for. Well folks unfortunately I found out right away what the balls were there for. We were to partner up with someone at the table. Once that was complete to coach each other how to juggle.
Now those of you that know me you could say I was not blessed with keen juggling skills. So I rolled my eyes, stood up and tried to juggle and my partners job was to coach me on how to juggle. Keep in mind my partner could not juggle either. Well you can imagine the task of juggling was a complete failure for both of us.
As I sat down the teaching lesson started of how to coach people even if your not a subject matter expert. I sat captivated as the teaching knowledge rolled into me like a river flowing over a desert floor. I was overcome with emotions about the positive information getting down loaded into my conscious mind. So at the end of the teaching we were all asked again to repeat the same exercise on coaching someone to juggle.
We then applied the new learning in the effective way to coach people on the task of enabling people to juggle. The secret that I learned that day is all learning and the ability to learn is within all of us. By asking questions will allow others to teach themselves and the learning cycle will be much quicker. I had also learned the value of if I do not know the answers to not provide false information to others. To be mindful if I am not competent on a skill to ensure I am not giving instructions that will only confuse others. As the first round of giving the traditional instructions on how to juggle and I had no clue on how to juggle myself which ended up in failure. I realized that was a another way of impacting people in a negative way with my words.
So on with the second round of the juggling story and we set our goal before we started the coaching session. Keep in mind neither one of us has successfully juggled ever before in our life. This time we did juggle through our own mind set and with the power of coaching. This coaching created an environment where our own thinking process taught us how to juggle. This all happened in about 15 minutes.
At the end of this session we were all asked to stand up once more and asked again do you think you still cannot coach? I sat down knowing now that I am able to coach others and to provide more value. Once again I was moved to tears to realize how much is out in the universe and the ability to grow is in all of us.
As the session was over I debriefed with my partner and both of us were moved by the power of asking questions. How by simple questions will induce a complete change of mind set so quickly. I am so grateful that the wise teachers continued to present their voice even when many were stubborn to the fact of change. They continued to provide value and did not give up.
My take away of the value of not giving up in coaching people as long as the person is still in the room. I also learned about the value of humility of thinking I knew all the answers and I was wrong. I also have a renewed focus of keeping my internal compass on course and constantly adjust as required. I want to have a mind that is open for learning and opportunities that come my way.
What choices are you going to make going forward? Are you going to remain standing after everyone has sat down and moved to a different learning lesson?
The time is now to learn in grow. If I can do it I know you can.

The 74th Chapter - Recognize Significant Growth
March 19/17
I am currently on the eve of another journey of more personal growth and I would like to share through some thoughts. As time has passed in my life one thing I would like to share today is to be able to recognize significant growth. This task in me has taken a long time to develop and my goal is to help shorten that time in you.
This ability to recognize significant moments when they happen and too feel them happening in the moment has alluded me in the past. Also by seeing that a moment is happening right now is also truly special. These are moments that you will look back knowing that was a great time in your life.
Like the patterns around us not everyday in our life can it be lived at its maxim levels of awareness. However it is key to be able to realize when great moments are happening adds to our ability to use this into our fuel. By taking advantage of this fuel it will help you learn your passion at a quicker pace. You will feel an larger amount of fuel that you can currently use so in these cases store the energy for your use when you need strength to draw on. This will help you to keep growing when times of testing come to you.
This leads me to my story today. As I am sitting down in a convention centre prior to a start of becoming a John Maxwell Team Member. It is with excitement combined with the unknown of who I will meet and what I will learn over the next days.
Already I have noticed the positive energy with the few people I have met. As I reflect I am reminded of how our energy will impact others. My thought turn to so many people coming together at the same time and place. All the individual stories and choices that have brought people to one place in time. If one could only capture all the stories from all the people over the next few days.
Yet the common theme for all the people here is to have personal growth and start of a new phase of life. Key takeaway from all of us here is what are we going to do with all this positive energy and knowledge? Each of us here has the same opportunity to nurture and grow this experience.
This is another stepping stone to unlock another level up in our quest in our life. Either way this experience for all will be a turning point and a start of a new chapter. This turning point will provide answers for people as they explore their need for growth. As this growth process that has started out with us in this life needs to remain in our life for us to grow.
When you fail and fall down get back up. Take your learning and grow your learning. Keep drawing yourself forward and make your difference your difference.

The 73rd Chapter - The Fuel of Growth
March 18/17
I would like to share about the last few weeks. During these last few weeks there has been moments and periods of time that have cause me to reflect on my current path.
Sometimes I wonder if I am achieving and growing as much as I can. So like everything in life to grow we need fuel. Plants need sun and water to grow. Cars need gas and air to propel them forward to carry you to your destination. As like us in our growth we too need a fuel mixture as well to propel us forward.
An example of that fuel came to me this morning. I am on a start of a new journey of growth for me and that start is to head to Florida to attend John Maxwell University. The goal is that at the completion of this trip is to be a John Maxwell Certified Trainer.
As I sat at the airport waiting to board the plane, I posted in my blog (Chapter 55 http://empathicdeepthinker.blogspot.ca/2017/03/the-55th-chapter.html) and for those of you familiar with that chapter you will immediately recognize the significance of the timing. The overall theme is life is amazing and there is no way one can write these types of experiences in your life other than to live them. You will experience moments like these when you are in your alignment.
As I was posting this blog I couldn't help but to call my friend and actually woke him up. I then went on to share my experience of randomness and how things work out like they do. When your living your life in your alignment how things just happen in a positive way.
All great leaders follow their path and the feeling of your intuition will lead you to become a great leader. The more you practice following your insights the easier it will become to attract others that have the need to unlock their greatness. This will be providing the correct fuel mixture you need to propel yourself forward.
A way to identity how to follow your intuition is something I would like to share. For those that have not been exposed to John Maxwell there are four different streams that you need to pick one from. As I am learning about the task of picking a learning stream and found the one for me. What I received when I found my stream was a gut feeling and goose bumps all over my body. That feeling of just knowing that this is learning stream for me.
So when you are at a crossroads of your life and a growth pattern is about to start. Use these feelings I have described above as these are your internal compass directing you to your alignment.
This alignment will lead you to your passion that leads you to your purpose. All of us have been given our greatness and it is up to you to unlock it.

The 72nd Chapter - Your Attitude and Achievement
March 12/17
I would like to share an experience that happened yesterday. This was an event were people came together and volunteered at a local school. During this time the volunteers and the students worked together to build two large play houses that will be later raffled off.
What spoke to me was the confidence and competence of these young kids as they carried out their building tasks creating this large structure. Not once did I hear this project is too big or we don't have enough time to complete this in time. Or better yet, never did I hear we will never complete this large project.
The attitude from these young adults was one of completing one task at a time. As the hours passed the walls and roof were slowly completed one step at a time. It was incredible that such young people were able to complete so many different tasks with no negative energy whatsoever. Another interesting observation was that they have not worked together before. Yet you would have never guessed that looking on as they all worked together as a team.
As I reflect on this experience, what is it in us as adults that we sometimes lose this general positive attitude towards task completion. The natural ability to work with other with such ease is in our DNA as young people. Perhaps the older we get we lose focus on our natural abilities of greatness. Perhaps with time we slowly shift our focus from our success to our failures. As that lens of our outlet changes to one of negative energy it will then impact our life each day.
Are you finding yourself in a place where it is hard to connect with others? Does your manager start providing you with soft skills tools to help you get along with others? Or have discussions with you on task completion and performance seem to be a focus? Maybe this is a good time to step hack and reflect on your current mindset.
If you realize it is one that is negative in most of your interactions. Then maybe the common theme might be you and your mindset. If you determine this is the case then look back in your life when you were nailing it. Was your focus on what you can do one step at a time vs. what you can't do one step at a time.
As your mindset shifted over time to it's current negative one. It often begins a slow descent of change in you that is not in your alignment of growth. The positive fact is now that you have realized this current state in you your mindset now can change. This will happen by one positive thought at a time that returns you back your passion zone.
You are at the start of a long journey and it will be hard to clumb up that mountain you need to climb to change your currently reality. However like any new skill with practice it will become easier for you. Start out with small exercises of positive thinking. From that start of positive thoughts learn from them and recognize when opportunities come across your way.
Also recognize when your having a bad moment or day and when that happens take a moment out to regroup. All great quests of history require moments of regrouping and prioritizing of objectives. After all this is about you and there truly is not a greater quest than the one you are doing right now.
Utilize all the patterns of success around you and replicate them. Some of the most famous songs and movies are based on a simple few notes or ideas. Yet they are highly successful so use this concept in your life and keep your focus back to the basics of what you are.
Be honest with yourself and your performance as without your honest gauge of reality you will not be able to move forward. This concept can be compared to finding your way with an old school compass. You are provided with a map to your destination however if you do not set your compass to true north you won't be able to reach your destination. You will have all the tools that everyone else has yet you will not reach your goals.
The key take away in this thought is your ability to be honest with yourself. How well you do this will enable you to set your internal compass to true north. Once you have completed this step you will experience growth which leads to your success. The time is now to reset your compass.
