The Second Book The 33rd Chapter - A Pause

Aug 17/17

For years now I have had job tasks and kid raising activities and at this moment I have neither.  I still spend time with my kids but now they are independent and once that process begins, as a parent I find a lot of spare time.

The speed at which I used to go was positive in the aspect of accomplishing tasks however with that speed came the realization I was not able to see everything that was occurring in the moment.  Pattern replication once again comes to mind and how fast our speed is as we travel through our life.  The faster we go with our thoughts the less we can actually see our surroundings.  Compare this to taking a slow walk on a path, our eyes and minds have time to follow and process our environment.  Yet if we take the same path while riding a peddle bike as fast as we can that same path will appear different to us.  That difference is driven by the fact of an increased speed and a lowering the amount of effective process time.

While I have learned my intuition and gut feeling is an adequate way to base decisions on next steps in life, I have learned the need for balance.  There is a need to do things quickly on occasion and you do need to rely on your intuition however by doing this all the time you will miss valuable life growing lessons.

In nature with animals their pace is always thought out and selected.  Each movement is one that always conserves energy and taking in all of their environment.  The only exception to this rule is when flight or fight concept applies, when life or death is a possibility.  Then at the moment nature does operate on quick intuition of insights.  I have operated at that high level of flight or fight for years now and it has lead me to lose relationships, effective connections with my kids and even had an impact on my results in my work environment.

I have had several conversations over the years for my quest to fully understand this chapter but fully did not understand it until now.  With vast amount of time and no pressure I feel my stress needle sliding down and that has enabled me to understand the value of a pause.  I am grateful the universe has provided me with this gift even though it has been painful at times.  This pause has forced me to address issues with myself that I have ignored in the past.

With the passing of each day, I realize I am one day closer to where I need to be.  I have been asking the universe to help me to stop making the same painful decisions of my past and right now the universe is granting me my wish.

The Second Book The 32nd Chapter - Who are you

Aug 16/17

Do you know who you are and do others accept you for who you are?  Or do you feel your misunderstood and judged by your past performances in either your work place or in your personal life?

I would like to share a snap shot of my 20 year working life up until now.  During that 20 years I was surrounded and worked with mostly the same people.  I worked very hard on my professional and personal development yet as hard as I worked on those goals the perception of how others viewed me seemed to remain the same.  I felt I had grown and was increasing my value to the organization yet based on my intuition it felt like that the momentum of growth realization by others was not identified.

As I thought about this pattern and to why this was occurring I realized my responsibility was my lack of communication my boundaries and expectations.  I didn't have the strength of confidence to verbalize how I was getting impacted in a negative way and when this would happen I would try to work harder.  Yet with always the same result of this unsettling feeling and not truly being at a place where value could be fully utilized.

I realize I was creating a large part of this reality by this lack of communication on my part.  The people around me had no idea of their impact as I didn't communicate that impact and yet for a while I held them accountable.  Like wine that has been aged with time, I too feel I have learned a lesson on boundaries and how I can use them in a healthy way.

As I explore my new path I have had the opportunity to meet strangers and with an introduction I am able to share I am an author writing about healing and growth.  All of these conversations with people  they respond favorable and asked more questions.  As I share more the conversations are ending in value being given to both of us.  The results of experiences like these is growing my confidence and also how it ties back to knowing who I now am.  During these conversations they have no idea of my past therefore no judgments are made of either my success or failures.

I realize this gift of time that I currently have was meant for me to level up and to keep growing.  I realize if all of what has happened to me over the last years didn't happen I would not be experiencing the level of growth I am now.  I would have lived a comfortable life but not really living life.

As I reflect on my mistakes, I can now see how I added to situations in a negative way.  For those I have impacted in a negative way, I am sorry.  I realize I did the best I could at the time and now I know how I can do better in the present and the future.

There are still moments of being uncomfortable yet now I understand what is causing these moments.  It is exciting of what more I will discover about myself as my journey continues to knowing who I am.

The Second Book The 31st Chapter - The Power of Time

Aug 14/17

It is now exactly 2 months since my company I worked for and I parted ways.  After 12 years of challenging management work, at first a sense of reflect was felt, as now I could rest for a while.  I was free to explore and reset for my next chapter.

As time marches on so does the power of time.  As I have not found a long term home the power of time is replacing the sense of relief to feelings of insecurity, fear of the future and doubt.  The dreams and the ideas are always so easy yet I am experiencing now how difficult creating energy is in entirely new circumstances.

From  my personal development training this has  shown me where I am right now currently and it would be easy to run away.  Gratefully  my own previous writings about creating a positive reality for ones self are now having a positive effect on me.  They are providing me hope, they are providing me energy to not quitting my marathon.  I know life has put me exactly where I need to be right now as life is teaching me several lessons.

One is to truly appreciate what it feels like to not have a constant revenue stream coming in.  Another is to truly appreciate the love and support of a life partner when going through periods of transition like these.  It is hard to be alone on this journey and I know life is teaching me to become a better and more complete person.

Acceptance is key for me, once acceptance happened and I stopped running I can feel the slow start of momentum growing.  This lesson is a true test of the trust in my strength to dig deeper to move forward into the unknown.  Team building exercises come to mind where you build trust by doing physical exercises with each other.  Where you fall backwards to your team members arms and they catch you.  I feel that same sense however I know I am meant to catch myself as I fall backwards.

This journey has been very difficult for me and I have been experiencing life's normal cycles that we all have to face.  I think life has shown me these experiences what I was younger, yet at the time I was not able to see them as a benefit to my learning and growth.  It has taught me to pay more attention to the power of time and to be aware sooner what is going around in my place in this world.

The gifts of being humble, grateful, open and most importantly for me is being able to understand and apply my boundaries are all being defined to me.  To have the strength to say no, where in the past I wouldn't say no and would work harder with the expense being a high cost to me.  This cost also effects others close to me and I am not willing to repeat that pattern in my life.

In closing, are you learning from the power of time?  How can you leverage your life's lessons to create value in you?

The Second Book The 30th Chapter - Your Transition

Aug 10/17

We commonly think of change as a negative or uncomfortable experience when it happens in our life.  I am going to challenge you to think about change in a different way and of the end result of change it  is good.  It is the transition period to get to your new change is the root cause of your struggle.

All of you reading this has experienced some kind of transition, whether it's the loss of a loved one, a job or perhaps an intimate relationship.  Once the process of transition begins this is where the energy required from us begins.  This is where the pain of an experience is felt at full force.  The cycle of the 5 stages of grief begin and they all belong to you once you start your cycle.

As you know at the start of this book I shared that I am an upper middle manager out of my normal traditional work.  I was good at my position and based on feedback from my V.P I knew I was in alignment of what the organization considered value.  That all changed with the acquisition and in a brief moment a decision was made and I was now in the moment of the start of my transition.  With a stroke of a pen I went from adding value to a company asset to now a ledger liability.

At first I was relieved however as time passed I have realized the 5 stages of grief have applied to me.  I have spent a while now in the depression stage and now just moving into the acceptance phase.  I would like to share of how I was able to move into my acceptance.

That is support that was given to me from a great and incredible human being.  As I have been doing this journey without a significant other, support from another human being was something I was lacking.  Due to my previous training on personal and organizational development, I knew what was going on with me however I couldn't get out of the cycle of depression.  I didn't have the strength to reach out to ask for that support.

I would almost break out of that cycle and then slide back.  I was looking at myself and asking myself where was I going and who was I becoming.  Then I realized the universe will give you whatever you need but the catch is you first have to identify what you need and second you need to ask for what you need.

So yes, transition was not fun and I still am not sure where my future will lead however a turning point has been made and now with a new acceptance.  I am able now to put energy required from me to reach my new change instead of paralyzed in looking back to my past.

Picture your new change as a sense of accomplishment once you arrive which was provided by the uncomfortable transition period we all face in our life.

The Second Book The 29th Chapter - Conquer Your Maze

Aug 7/17

You have all seen or experienced in real life a maze.  Where someone has going out and started a new journey, that can be compared to a maze, with some kind of large plans.  In this maze there are times where they are close to finding the correct way of the maze however there is only one correct way to successfully exit.

As you proceed through your maze of life you will have clues of what you think are you next steps.  As you proceed through your life you will make more correct decisions than wrong ones in regards to moving yourself forward.  Yet you will experience the dead ends of your maze and when that happens the only thing you are able to do is retrace your steps and learn from your incorrect turn.

One of the most important lessons is to follow your maze, when faced with moment of uncertainly follow your path.  Sometimes that path will lead you to your dead end and that is ok, you went with the information you had at the time you thought was correct.  Even with the dead ends you will find your travels will provide you with an valuable experience.

Recently as I have traveled down my maze I was drawn to the need to move away to a warm location and start a life of me being able to make a living at a relaxed pace.  Even though the pull was strong and I felt I was on my correct path for me, I traveled to my warm vacation with my son in search of this next path for me.  I started out this journey with hope and wonder if maybe this is where I would land after years in the corporate world.  Even though I met folks at this island that have left the corporate world and now this is their place of residence.  I rapidly realized my time is not now for moving away, hence I have hit a dead end in my maze.

Now as I return home and retrace my steps it is with a sense of gratitude as I did follow my clue to what I thought was my path.  Not in the slightest am I disappointed as the time with my son and exploring the area there can be no value put on this experience.  Even though I hit a dead end, I have actually gained confidence on the fact that my son and I followed a path that has create value for me.

I also truly hope this experience has create value in my son as he navigates his life path, destination and his maze.  If your feeling a need to move on a quest, follow it, now matter what it is, as if you don't you will be burdened with the feeling of regret.  If you allow it, choices like these will cause you to stop living life and a tragedy it would be if you get to the end of your life filled with regrets.  The time is now to conquer you maze and explore life to your fullest.

The Second Book The 28th Chapter - Appreciate Your Life

Aug 7/17

We all go through moments in our life when you feel you are nailing it or the feeling of being depressed.  When we are in these lower moments sometimes we are not seeing the positive that we actually have.

As you know of the start of this book I communicated I have been on a new professional journey after years of hard work and dedication.  I am looking for a new home as such a few factors come into play that caused me to lose my alignment of positive energy.  I was struggling to find the positive in my day to day life and was not understanding the point of the years of hard work.  Struggling to understand how to go forward when I lost a group of friends that were co-workers.

As time has passed, there is not the ability to rewind the moment however a Facebook post changed my perception of reality with a simple statement.  As I was starting a trip with my son to San Pedro that post stated I wish I could have your life and I am so jealous.  At the time that caused me to pause as I was in a negative mindset.  Due to the underlining cause of me not feeling a sense of value yet someone looking on thought I had an amazing life.

It took a week for this thought to grow in me and it hasn't left.  The thought is even in my moments of darkness there were others that thought my life was admirable.  Why is that?  What has just occurred?  There it is and that is my perception and mind set which creates my foundation of reality.  When it was at a low level there were others thinking that they would like to have my life.

Thank you for that comment as that comment slowly started to change my mindset.  I went from a sense of emptiness to a sense that I know what I need to do when I return home.  I need to refocus to my alignment and what captures my passion.  No matter what that passion is in you, you have the strength to follow that passion.

That passion is the gift we have been given to make our difference.  Do not let the negative details slow down your passion but use your passion to go into an area you have not experienced before.  True growth in nature always goes back to organic growth and in that organic growth there is no force that can stop that growth.

You will struggle in life like I have with next steps and confidence yet please gather your strength to move yourself forward.  If you don't no one else will and appreciate your gifts of life.

The Second Book The 27th Chapter - Hard Go

July 18/17

Do you ever ask yourself when is the right time to press forward?  When is the moment for you to make your difference?  Being in the valley of hesitation will slow your growth and given enough time will stop your growth.

In history there usually is a key moment when a decision was made to have a high return on the investment.  A moment of a hard go, when you reach that moment of a hard go, there is no stopping you.  This pattern in nature is all around and when that moment a hard go is started all energy is invested to change the current reality.

Just as important is your work up to your hard go moment.  Ask yourself what your thoughts and actions currently are and do they line up to your hard go moment.  As all this alignment is critical for you to reach your maximum success with this movement.

One moment in history I find very moving is the first manned moon mission.  This pattern of ensuring, for years, of alignment of goal was paramount from that one last launch to the pre-work of that first moment of planning.  All the sacrifices and resources invested lead to that moment when Neil Armstrong was able to step on the moon.  Just as important as to invest all in the moment to press forward, the process to realize your goal is also of great importance.  It is vital that your safety systems be put in place, should something go not as planned before you enter into the point of no return.

The balance is required in you for your success and once you have your alignment of your cause, established your safety systems your motivation will signal you to start your hard go.  Also be aware that your attempt to level up might not be successful so also think about your options.  If you are not successful, when this happens do not think of this moment of a failure but as a moment to evolve and improve your strategy.

After each success or mishap in the moon project there was always a debrief session.  Also keep this thought in your process after your hard go moments have occurred as a strategy for continuous improvement.  Ask yourself things like, What did you execute well on?  What do you need to improve?  In your debrief session write down how you are going to make your adjustments.

It is important to physiologically get ready for whatever outcome you experience, whether it be positive or negative.  Be aware that once your great accomplishments are complete your energy high will fade.  Like the moon project in 1969 the excitement the world felt was one of wonder and a sense of man kinds accomplishment.  Fast forward to now and that energy of that moment is lost but to a few people.

Utilize that energy momentum when you are successful on your hard go's.  Once it fades, do not morn its lose but use that energy to start building your next moment of a hard go.
