If your in sales you probably heard of the concept to work your funnel. To keep your funnel full with potential leads and some of those numbers will end up providing you with sales. That concept works as long as you continue to work the numbers game.
This pattern replicates in nature as well for nature trying to survive by gathering energy in the form of food. What I would like to talk about today is turn your funnel upside down. Whatever goals your currently are working on, instead of the one immediate closure of a goal to expand your goals with a stronger focus by turning your strategy. For example if your in sales and you want to increase your volume focus on building stronger relationships. Build yourself a spreadsheet of what you are going to achieve. By doing it will provide you a step by step plan to reach your goals.
When your building your relationships start by asking how you can provide further value to your customer. This is the start of your inverse funnel strategy. Picture this strategy one of farming rather than one of hunting. One of planting seeds and watering those seeds. As time goes by your reward will grow much further that the immediate sale of hunting.
Your relationships will grow to provide value to your customers and it is at this time they will start to ask you how they can help with your overall growth. This is now the start of growing your funnel upside down. You are now starting to grow your matrix of success. With one successful conversation at a time you will be growing your value and influence.
When you first start out in whatever venture you will need to do both the traditional and the inverse funnel strategy. Like in nature when you first start you will need to hunt at the beginning while also planting seeds for farming. At your beginning you will need to have a higher focus on the numbers strategy and as you become more successful start shifting your balance to one of investing yourself in long term value adds.
The secret is to keep yourself moving and growing. In nature, stopping movement will strop growth and this pattern will occur with you as well. Keep moving and keep sharing your growth with others.
The more you truly share the more you will have in return. If your new to your goals start working your numbers and if your success in your goals help others. Remember at some point you were new at this goal and someone mentored you.
