The Second Book The 43rd Chapter - Work Your Obsession

Aug 27/17

This title might sound controversial in this current age of expression or perhaps the age of not being able to freely express non-mainstream thoughts.  As your growing and finding your true self, have you ever found yourself in a state of worry on the person that is coming alive?  Have you struggled to find your balance of who you are and your tribes acceptance of your obsessions?

I know I have come out of a period when I was younger where I struggled with this thought and having balance.  To be clear this obsession of your passion is a concept for you to become a better person and to continue to unlock your greatness.  Ensure your obsession does not lock onto someone else, this chapter is about the healthy obsession of your growth.

When I was arriving at my passion my growth was handcuffed by me as I was fearful of this passion.  It took a long time for me to emerge out of the shadows of my shell due partly because of listening to others around me.  In general others and society would suggest obsessive is a bad thing however I feel there is a fine line that is quite blurred with that thought.

As anyone that is successful in whatever field they have worked hard and practiced their skill repeatedly.  Like a saw blade in a large tree a craftsman will repeat the same action in the same spot until the saw cuts through the log.  So by being obsessive with something, it will bring you success.

When I started creating my first book, I lacked the confidence on the quality of my work,  I created the words, ideas and put them all together in a book.  I chose the image of the cover, letter fonts and layout of the product.  All without the aid of formal training in literature or graphic design.  From there I started marketing the book, once again all done by trying to work my obsession.

I have learned so much and continue to learn but a key take away is my growing confidence in working my saw.  In reality my first book is a little rough and that doesn't matter, what matters is it was a start of seeing and living my passion.  That passion is to help others and to be creative with my experiences of life.

Most people know who Wayne Gretzky is and I am guessing he spent countless hours practicing on and off the ice to become a great athlete.  Hours spent working his sweet spot as he was perfecting his craft.  It is about your confidence and your ability to work your passion.

Let your dreams of success fill you and even though you don't know where you are going to end up, take your first step you living your obsession.
